FWAS’s goal is to host two large annual events each year. We also hope to organize 2 smaller events that will be more “field trip” oriented.

We are going to host a regional auction that will be geared towards “Plants & Shrimp”.
The appeal of this auction is to focus on plants, shrimp, and fish that that work well for planted aquariums. All fish will be welcome for the auction, but we hope to carve out a niche event for our region. An event that is specifically oriented to attract the horticulturalists and shrimp breeders in our region. Fort Wayne already has a strong representation in these areas so it seems to be a good niche for our group.
-Fall Swap. Date TBA
We hope to host a large fall swap meet where anyone can “buy a table” to sell and trade goods.
Both large events serve as a fundraiser for the FWAS so that the society can offer its local and regional members high quality events. There will be a portion of each sale at the auction that will go to the society and the cost of a table at the swap meet will go to the society.
-Small events
We hope to host one or two “field trip oriented events. These events could be anything from a group trip to a large regional fish store, a trip to somewhere aquarium related such as the Chicago aquarium or the Ohio fish rescue, or a casual social event at a restaurant.
It is our goal to host very high quality events that our members will enjoy and that aquarists around our region will want to drive and participate in. We will also be seeking to bring in professionals in their field to speak at our events and further educate our region in aquarium keeping.
